Botox & fillers

There are many factors which accelerate the onset of ageing; heredity, lifestyle and sun exposure are all key triggers which impact the speed at which we age. As we grow older, collagen production slows down causing the skin to lose its youthful elasticity and plump volume. Botox and fillers are highly effective treatments which can produce dramatic, but natural results.

FAQ

Am I a suitable candidate for Botox?

It’s important to note that Botox is a prescribed medicine and will only be offered once it’s been deemed suitable and appropriate for each patient.

What can Botox treat?

FDA approved since 2002, Botox is a muscle relaxant used to treat frown lines and ‘crows feet’. Botox is injected into the muscle and works by temporarily paralysing the muscle movement.

Botox can treat many areas such as:

  • Wrinkles: forehead, frown lines, crows feet
  • Jowls
  • Turkey neck
  • Gummy smile
  • Excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis)
  • Poorly defined jaw
  • heavy eyebrows

What can fillers treat?

Fillers are used to treat minor to moderate lines and wrinkles and are especially effective in restoring volume and structure to areas that have lost plumpness. Fillers can stimulate collagen growth and hydrate the skin.

Fillers can be used to treat many areas of the face:

  • Tear troughs (tired eyes)
  • Naso-labial folds (smile or laughter lines)
  • Non-surgical lip lift
  • Marionette lines
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Lip enhancement
  • Chin enhancement
  • Poorly defined jaw
  • Smoker’s lines
  • Non-surgical nose reshaping
  • Hand rejuvenation
  • Jowls
  • Eyebrow lift

What should I expect during and after treatment?

It is possible to administer Botox and filler injections during a single appointment. Whilst there is no downtime, some mild bruising, redness and temporary tenderness at the injection site may occur. These reactions are generally very mild and resolve within a few days. Fillers are non-permanent and will naturally break down over time.

The effects of Botox are generally noticeable about a week after treatment and will last up to five months. Botox will not radically change the volume or proportion of your facial appearance. Your face will still animate well but with diminished or no skin creasing.
